Maywood Riverfront Park Renovation

(Schematic Design)

The Maywood Riverfront Park Renovation reflects a deep connection to the Tongva people's cultural practices, especially their reverence for water. This project integrates symbolic elements of water through pathways and natural designs that honor the Los Angeles River and Sleepy Lagoon. The park's central gathering space, inspired by traditional Tongva shade structures, is designed to foster cultural exchange and community storytelling. It features accessible paths, shaded seating, and educational signage. The renovation emphasizes sustainability, with native plant gardens and a focus on minimizing concrete and avoiding pesticides to respect Indigenous ecological practices.
