The Niitsitapi Early Learning Center is designed as a space that combines contemporary and traditional approaches to education, focusing on the urban Indigenous community in Calgary, Alberta. It celebrates Aboriginal culture and languages while fostering holistic, lifelong learning. The design integrates Aboriginal knowledge, spiritual practices, and community engagement, representing eleven distinct tribal groups. Through multiple community consultations and interviews with Elders, the center balances Aboriginal and Western learning methods.
